Cogwheel railway Tisovec - Zbojská - Pohronská Polhora

The track between Tisovec and Pohronská Polhora was registered as a National Cultural Monument in 2008. Its history dates back to the 19th century, when its construction began. It is unique primarily due to the cogwheel railway, which on its route overcomes the Zbojská mountain saddle at an altitude of 725 meters above sea level, with gradients of up to 50.2 ‰. An indescribable experience for visitors is a ride on a historic steam train every year, which takes place during the summer tourist season on selected weekends. Lovers of history and nature, as well as citizens of all age categories, who decide to make their weekend more enjoyable by visiting this unique cobblestone, will find something to their liking. The Cogwheel Railway Museum located next to the dispatch building of the Tisovec railway station is also worth a visit. In it, you can admire a miniature landscape with a railway model, and at the same time, thanks to the exhibits and photos, you will learn about the history and construction of this unique construction work.
