Domica Cave
Domica is the most famous and longest cave of the Slovak Karst National Park. With the Baradla Cave on the Hungarian side, it forms a single unit up to 25 km long. Within the caves of the Slovak and Aggtelek karst, they are included in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage.The length of the accessible part of the cave is 780 meters with a negligible elevation gain of 3 to 7 meters. The tour lasts about 45 minutes. Depending on the weather and the level of the underground river Styx, there is occasionally the possibility of a longer Circuit with navigation, with a total length of 930 m. Domica is the only Slovak cave with possible underground boat navigation for the average visitor.From the rich sinter filling, cascade lakes (Roman baths, Plitvice lakes), onion-shaped stalactites, and pagoda-shaped stalagmites are typical for the Domica cave. Up to 16 species of bats live here, of which the Mediterranean horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus Euryale) in Domica forms a 1000- to 2000-member winter colony.At the cave, there is a 2.5 km educational trail that will take you through the karst landscape with its typical karren fields and views of the Slovak and Hungarian side of the territory
