Hajnáčka Castle
The remains of the castle from the 13th century can be found on a basalt cliff overlooking the village Hajnáčka.
Climbing it is quite simple and undemanding. From the square, follow (following the signs) down the alley to the east, and by turning left, a narrow sidewalk will lead you to a remarkable wooden castle gate. It is only a few minutes' walk from the gate to the castle gate.
There are trilingual information panels in the landscaped area, and wooden railings will guide you to ascend to the higher parts of the castle, where you can also reach the stairs cut into the rock.
As a reward, the visitor will have a nice view not only of the village and the Cerová Highlands, but also the Mátra Mountains with the highest peak in Hungary - Kékes (1014 m above sea level).
