Muráň
The inconspicuous village under the rock cliff Cigánka is one of the most visited places on Gemer. The visitor is charmed by the beautiful nature of the Muránská plain, which is dominated by vast and mysterious forests. The ruins of the once famous Muráň castle proudly rise above the village, shrouded in many legends, fables and Hungarian poems about glorious times that have been lost in the flow of time. It is possible that even the lords of the castle once feasted on the legendary Muranske buchty buns, which will amaze every gourmet with their recipe and taste. The connection of the village with the surrounding nature is also proved by the biggest attraction of the area, which is currently enjoying the greatest popularity far and wide. Until recently, close observation of groundhogs in the wild was an exceptional experience. Today, thanks to the hunting ground near the village, you have the possibility of direct contact with this cute little animal. Hundreds of tourists visit the Biele Vody ranch during the season. However, you should think carefully about the time of your visit, as ground squirrels are only active on sunny days from March to September.
