Rákoš

The village of Rákoš, located in the south-eastern part of the Slovak Ore Mountains at the foot of Železník, hides incredible wealth in the form of historical monuments or natural beauties. This locality, unknown to many, has a rich mining tradition. In the local part of Rákošská Baňa, visitors can admire the history of the village, which is presented by the local museum. In spaces mining exposure you will get to know various mining tools and aids from the end of the nineteenth century, interesting minerals, period documents and photographs. What is unique is the passing around secured mining works, which are the wintering ground for bat colonies. These can be observed in the autumn and spring months. Through the sidewalk, visitors will get to the ruins of the Rákoš castle, which the locals call the dialect "chateau". It completes the atmosphere of the old mining village Nature trail of small batsgothic church towering over the village. The frescoes in it are proof of the uniqueness and important role of the village Rákoš in the history of the Gemer region.
