Teplý Vrch - the warmest lake in Slovakia

The Teplý Vrch water reservoir is one of the most sought-after recreational locations in the region, and thanks to the title of the warmest water reservoir in Slovakia. In the summer months, the water here reaches a temperature of up to 28 degrees. The approximately 100 ha large water area is mainly used for swimming, yachting, fishing and water sports.

On the eastern bank of the water reservoir, near the village of the same name, there is the ORMET Recreational Facility, which includes a campsite, a beach, a water slide, and a rental of water bikes and paddleboards.
Another option for accommodation is offered by 2- and 4-bed cabins equipped with a refrigerator, a coat rack, a table with chairs and a wardrobe. The newly built sanitary facilities are located approx. 10 m away from the cells.
The Oliver tourist hostel with a capacity of 45 places is located right in the area. There are 2, 4, and 6-bed rooms. The dormitory is equipped with a dining room and a kitchen. Bathroom facilities and showers are shared on each floor.
For larger groups, it is possible to order food in advance at the reception, otherwise it is possible to eat individually in buffets and fast food stands located in the area, in a hut offering various specialties and in a self-service dining room on the terrace.

Teplý Vrch water reservoir is also adjacent to the villages of Budikovany and Drienčany, where the parish priest, folk storyteller Pavel Emanuel Dobšinský worked and is buried. The circular part of the educational hiking trail also starts in the village. The educational trail passes through the valley of the river Blh, around the Great and Small Drienčany Cave, in which the remains of people from the Kyjatice culture were found.
Not far from the recreation facility, there is a large game park with fallow deer, wild boar and mouflon game.
For lovers of history and literature, we can recommend a circuit through the villages of Drienčany, Lukovištia, Kraskovo, , , Kyjatice and back to Teplý Vrch to diversify your stay. Slovak writers Pavol Dobšinský, Ivan Krasko, Ladislav Mňačko and Juraj Palkovič worked in these villages. In many of them you will find small Gothic churches with rare frescoes by Italian masters.

Pleasant refreshment on hot days will certainly be provided by the underground jewelries of Horný Gemer, within a 50-minute drive by car: , and the Ochtinská aragonite cave , which are included in the UNESCO world cultural heritage list.Gombasecka caveCave Domica
